Zoning Out Week: Adepticon Tyranid Team
Today’s potential Adepticon Killzone team is based on the Tyranid codex. When looking at tyranids as a potential choice, I made an early decision to not go the obvious route and build a genestealer force. Don’t get me wrong, such a team is ideal for this format, but I wanted to do something different. In the end, I decided upon the idea of a group of tyranid warriors escorting a zoanthrope thru a hotzone.
To accomplish this theme, I built the kill team around the behemoth rule which allows me to take more than 2 models with 3 wounds. The theme costs me 15 points and requires that I spend at least 50% of my available points on models with 3 wounds. Not an issue when I want this team to be focused on tyranid warriors.

Zoanthrope w/ Crackshot 65 points
Behemoth Theme 15 points
This list appears to do a couple of things well and a couple of things poorly. The Zoanthrope is my only model that has any form of ranged attack, which means I am going to need to wade thru a lot of firepower before my warriors can hit something. Another challenge with this list is that anything that can cause instant death may make quick work of my team.
When it comes to strengths, the first one is that I should be solid once I get into assault range. The lashwhip armed warriors can deal with models that have equal or better initiative scores, while the dual bonesword warriors can handle small packs of models. In general, all of my warriors are equipped to deal with 2+ save models like terminators and mega-nobz.

I love this list! It has a solid theme and concept, and should be tough. With the cluttered tabletop featured in K/Z, I don't think you have to worry too much about shooty teams.
